Complement

Yes, complement.

You might be thinking compliment.
But no, I meant complement.

When one thing completes another, therefore it complements.
When one thing expresses admiration, therefore it compliments.

But, I mean complement.

And to complement is to be close to perfect.

“From Dark to Light”

Listening to a minder wander silently
Through a deep serenade of anxiety
Spiraling madly into a chaos so dark
Feeling so lost and left in satiety

Creating hope like speckled spots
A light in the dim and dark lots
Deeply tracing pessimism
Filling void after void with good thoughts

Coming out of a battle within
Balanced like a yang to a yin
Engulfed by good and soaring high
And this is where happiness begins

Going to be godmother to this little, precious blessing.

If you know me, you know that I adore children. Children give me butterflies and my maternal instinct just fires up whenever I am in the presence of kids.

I am honored to be this angel’s godmother.

Peace in Mind

Often times, we are looking for a piece of mind but forget the peace in minding…

The peace in minding ourselves before anyone else.

Before we can share happiness with others, we have to find happiness in ourselves. We cannot be burdened in trying to please those around us when we are not at least content with ourselves.

This week, I have had one too many conversations with friends in which I emphasized how important it is to strive for positivity in our singular lives before attracting and sharing the good energy  onto others. People tend to easily forget their own importance and, thus, forget their own purpose.

Don’t lose your way, my friends.

Remember to keep yourself in mind because you matter too.

You cannot take care of anyone else if you cannot take care of yourself.

Girl Friends

Often times, you’ll come across people in your life with just a glance, a mere ounce, and you’re taken away by their warmth and charisma.

These girls are exactly that.

Stepping into one of my first jobs as an adult, in a small, suburban town that I was new to, these girls became my best friends. I don’t even know how we got so close, really. Each of us so different from the other – we just started hanging out and it became a routine. Every line in our group text became an inside joke and now, I’m pretty sure it would make a great book.

These girls, in the last few years, have been there for me at my roughest patches and I am forever thankful. They’re positive lights in my life and I appreciate them from the bottom of my heart.

Oh, and waffles.

Waffles have also been quite reliable. I don’t miss pairing them with chicken, but with the right type of syrup…

Goodness!

Thank you, waffles.

Now that I look at our friendship in pictures, I’ve noticed that there’s not a dull moment in any of them. In 99% of them, you’ll probably find us laughing. That really makes up the relationship we share with with each other – happiness and laughter.

Brigette and Yvette, thank you.
