Reciprocation

I don’t appreciate it when my love and affection isn’t reciprocated.

I’m patient.

I’m selfless.

I’m loyal.

But, only to an extent and I wish people wouldn’t constantly test me. My heart can only give so much until I’ve got nothing else to give.

“Blackberry”

The blacker the berry,
The sweeter the juice.
The nectar of your love,
Deep, deep in your roots.

Sweet soul to taste
With rare bitters in between.
None go to waste
Not even what’s unseen.

With my lips,
I dirtily soil.
My eyes undress you,
My plans uncoil.

The blacker the berry,
The sweeter the juice.
Let me be your soil,
In me, plant your roots.

Girl Friends

Often times, you’ll come across people in your life with just a glance, a mere ounce, and you’re taken away by their warmth and charisma.

These girls are exactly that.

Stepping into one of my first jobs as an adult, in a small, suburban town that I was new to, these girls became my best friends. I don’t even know how we got so close, really. Each of us so different from the other – we just started hanging out and it became a routine. Every line in our group text became an inside joke and now, I’m pretty sure it would make a great book.

These girls, in the last few years, have been there for me at my roughest patches and I am forever thankful. They’re positive lights in my life and I appreciate them from the bottom of my heart.

Oh, and waffles.

Waffles have also been quite reliable. I don’t miss pairing them with chicken, but with the right type of syrup…

Goodness!

Thank you, waffles.

Now that I look at our friendship in pictures, I’ve noticed that there’s not a dull moment in any of them. In 99% of them, you’ll probably find us laughing. That really makes up the relationship we share with with each other – happiness and laughter.

Brigette and Yvette, thank you.
